Honorable Brothers and dear interested readers of these lines:
On December 21, 2024, the sun passed through its lowest point in the firmament of the Northern Hemisphere. It seems as if this state of darkness is reflected in our current socio-political development.
With the arrival of the winter solstice, it is our wish that each day should now lead us out of this darkness, bring light into our shadowy existence…and it truly does, but let us not forget that in the Southern Hemisphere we have the opposite effect…
what remains in our secular environment is a state of uncertainty, instability, a time of turmoil, accompanied by negative energy and felt on all continents. The causes are homegrown; humanity on our fragile planet urgently needs to rethink…
These times pose a particular challenge for us Freemasons. We can and must ensure, that we always set a good example in our everyday environment. We can only counter intolerance, hatred, and violence with the message of love and tolerance; our Masonic temples, our work, and our canon of values underscore this.
Belief in the fundamental values and landmarks of Freemasonry is the bond that unites us and stands above all else. Let us always remember the ideals of Freemasonry: liberty, equality, fraternity, humanity, and tolerance!
In our organization, these fundamental values stand above any capitalist exchange money of profane society that blinds and clouds our thoughts. This vision of virtuous coexistence is shared by our brothers on different continents, regardless of their cultural background.
In our Confederation, we strive daily to mold this ethical code of conduct into a form that is appropriate for all of us, for the benefit of all humanity. As the outgoing President of the CGLEM, I am therefore particularly pleased that, together with the President of the CMSA, I have been able to assume the sponsorship of the mutual recognition of our confederations, and thus also actively shape part of the history of our fraternities.
The path of light we have walked together under the supervision of the Great Architect, as well as the preservation of our traditions and landmarks, will be seamlessly continued by my successor, the Grand Master of the National Grand Lodge 1805 of Italy, who has been duly installed.
Honorable brothers in the appropriate forms of address, dear interested readers, one thing is certain at this point:
„Scottish Freemasonry is more a transmission of the fire than merely a preservation of the ashes.“
